Electronic Music Had Many Fathers

This genre of music which uses electronic instruments and electronic technology was developed during a very long time and it is the result of many people's work. They all started individually and eventually their works completed one another.
The history goes back to the 19th century and lasts until the 1960's. The title of father can go to each of them with no fault. There are certain characteristics all these people share: an inquisitive character; chance and the right moment to use it; they all were geniuses. The true winner is music and we can be happy to listen to it.

During the World War II, a young man who was a naval radar officer, came with the idea of electronic and tape music. He was Tristram Carry, later the founder of the electronic music studio at London's Royal College of Music.

He developed music sustained by technology like techno and hip-hop. Tristram Carry was an inquisitive personality with a tremendous curiosity about technology. We would have never had techno and hip-hop music without him.

Edgard Victor Achille Charles Varse was a French composer who lived in the US for a long time. He invented the term "organized sound" and he influenced many 20th century composers. He was known as the father of electronic music due to the fact that he used new instruments and electronic resources. In 1958 he composed "Poeme Electronique" for the World's Fair in Brussels.

Karlheinz Stockhausen was the father of electronic music too. He produced electronic works. He said about his listeners that they experienced an outer space sensation, they felt like flying, or being in a fantastic dream. In 2007 he composed Cosmic Pulses, his last work.
He composed "Gesang der Junglinge" using samples of boys' voices and synthesized sounds. He also composed "Kontakte".

A pioneer of electronic music was Oskar Sala. He used an instrument called a Trautonium". Alfred Hitchcok used his trautonium music in his film the Birds".

Another pioneer in electronic music is a lady, Wendy Carlos. She played a major role herself. We still listen to her synthesized recordings of Bach.

The latest version of synthesizer is the digital one. It was invented by John Chowning, a composer who changed the music horizon. One of his first productions was the GS-1 digital synthesizer which came out of the Japanese factory Yamaha in 1981.
