If you have ever been in a position where you have to keep in touch with other people that may be too far away to talk to but communication is necessary then you know how crucial a two way radio system can be. I am going to share with you how the Motorola MH230R 23-Mile Range 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio helps us on our Lake Champlain yearly fishing jaunts. There are ordinarily 10 to 20 of us and we usually bring 5 to 8 boats. One of the chief issues we always had was getting everyone back for lunch or dinner since we all like to eat together. We would essentially row around the lake, sometimes for hours, trying to find everyone and tell them it is time to eat.
Then not too long ago, I bought two sets of these radios and put them in 4 boats. These radios really surprised me with the range and how well they worked out on the lake. Since the radios have a range of 23 miles, we were able to keep in touch with every last boat that had one of the radios in it. As a result, after trying them out, the following year I made certain we had a radio for every last boat. And of course wouldn't you know it the succeeding year my uncle's boat quit working on the lake, and he was several miles away. If I never purchased those radios he would have had to row this rather huge boat back to the house which was roughly a 3 mile trip.
This truly was a terrific investment. Something else I love is that these two-way radios come with rechargeable batteries so you don't have to bring a lot of batteries with you when you use them. One more good feature of these two-way radios is that they come equipped with a weather receiver so you can keep up with the weather when you're outside.
And as my mother remarked, these Motorola radios are fantastic for a lot of other things as well. My mother decided to take all her grandkids to Disney Land and wanted to know if she could use the radios, of course I said yes. Her fear was that one of the grandkids would wander off and getting lost. While no one went missing, that was really an excellent idea she had.
Another thing that we use these Motorola radios for is when we go out hunting as we cover 186 acres when we hunt and it is a fantastic way for people to tell the other people in the group if they are leaving the woods. You have no idea what a time saver this can be unless you have ever been walking around the woods trying to locate someone you can't find, just because they got cold and decided to go home.
There are a few of different headsets that can be used with these Motorola radios which we purchased after the fact for our hunting trips. With 121 privacy codes and 22 different channels that can be used, you need not worry about other Motorola radios interfering.
Right now you can even buy a pair of these two-way radios through Amazon for about $40, which is a lot less than what I paid for ours. I am sure that there are probably hundreds of different ways that you can use these radios and these Motorola radios are actually a good quality unit.
